Descripción: Este proyecto estudia estilos y comunidades emocionales en, sobre todo, los siglos XIX y XX a la luz de los presupuestos metodológicos desarrollados de manera independiente por la epistemología histórica (L. Daston), la ontología histórica (I. Hacking) y la metafísica aplicada. El conjunto de estudios que comprende este proyecto pretenden explorar el papel de las emociones en ciencias tan diversas como la dermatología, la cartografía, la anestesiología, la psicología experimental, o la cirugía post-traumática. En segundo lugar, aborda la saliencia de emociones específicas, como el resentimiento, o la experiencia de la enfermedad en nichos culturales como las revoluciones americanas, la medicina terminal y la estandarización científica acontecida durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Por último, examina la correspondencia entre espacios y representaciones emocionales.
De manera más particular, este grupo de investigación aspira a constituirse en el tercer gran grupo europeo de historia y filosofía de las emociones, junto con el Centre for the History of Emotions, del Queen Mary College de la Universidad de Londres, y el Instituto Max-Planck of Human Development, en Berlín. Sus conclusiones pretenden ser relevantes para la historia y la filosofía de las ciencias, pero también para la historiografía general, la antropología o la historia cultural.

Aims:This project examines emotional styles and communities within, above all, the XIX and XX century in the light of the methodical proposals independently developed by the historical epistemology (L. Daston), the historical ontology (I. Hacking) and the applied metaphysics. As a group, the investigations of this project are dedicated to explore emotional styles of science spanning the dermatology, the cartography, anaesthesiology, experimental psychology, or post-traumatic surgery. Secondly, this project explores the salience of specific emotions, like the resentment, the experience of being ill, or the pleasure, linked to specific cultural fields and contexts, as the American Revolution, terminal medicine and the scientific standardization in the First World War. For last, the correspondence between emotional spaces and their representative manifestations will be analysed.
In a more particular way, this investigation group looks forward to establish itself within the third European group of history and philosophy of emotions, together with the Centre for the History of Emotions, Queen Mary College, University of London, and the Max Planck Institute in Berlin. Our conclusions aim to be relevant for the history and philosophy of science, and likewise for general historiography, anthropology and cultural history.
